Whelp Watch Definition of Purebred |
For our purposes, a pedigreed or purebred animal is one that has its ancestry recorded and tracked by a major registry that maintains stud books. Purebred for the purpose of Whelp Watch is a breed that is recognized in one or more of the major registries (kennel clubs) of dog breeds, including the Federation Cynologique Internationale, The Kennel Club (UK), the Canadian Kennel Club, the American Kennel Club, the Australian National Kennel Council and the New Zealand Kennel Club, and other national registries. They must come from closed stud books. (When the breed is fully accepted, the stud book is closed and only dogs bred from dogs in the stud book will be accepted for registration. These dogs are referred to as purebred.)
Whelp Watch is dedicated to the purebred dog breeder, and will not link to mix-bred, hybrid, or "designer dog" webcams. Examples of designer dogs are (but not limited to): Puggles, Labradoodles , Goldendoodles , Cockapoos
